The chrome paint

The chrome paint is really not difficult to spray: Any painter with basic skills on how to handle a spraygun will spray a nice chrome after only 5 minute practice!

The most important point are :

- Getting a nice glossy basecoat, with no orange peel: The chrome effect depends on the gloss and the hardness of the undercaot!

- Spraying the clearcoat over the chrome paint: If one follow our special technic, the result will be great! If not, the complete chrome effect will be lost.

- High coverage: Paint 6sq M with 1Liter !

Application:

3 stage: Primer, chrome, clearcoat (optionnal)

1. Apply a glossy black 2k paint or clearcoated black. Allow 96h curing. Do not sand or degrease!

2. Choose a fine nozzle (max 1mm). Spray very thin coats of chrome paint with a low air pressure by summer, or higher air pressure by winter. Just watch the chrome appearing! 5 or 6 light coats should be enough!  

If you choose to clearcoat it, wiat at least 72h to apply the clearcoat. For item not intended to be exposed to outdoors conditions or abrasion or repeated contact by people, we recommend not to clearcoat it: Without clearcoat the paint reached its maximum chrome mirror aspect! Clearcoat can reduce more of less the chrome effect.

3. Apply a clearcoat needs a special technic: Never spray wet coats directly as, this will affect the chrome surface. Start with 4 very "flash" coats, wait 1 or 2 minutes between each coats. This is intended to fix / stick the surface of the chroma paint. It is then possible to clearcoat normally and reveal the chrome effect!
